\"LocalMusicianSSS\"<\/a>Where are you from, and how long have you been in Oxford?
\nJH: <\/strong>Born in Fort Worth, Texas. But moved around from California to Mississippi to Texas. In Oxford eight years.
\nBH: <\/strong>Salem, Virginia, but I grew up in Oxford and have been here since the third grade.<\/span><\/p>\n

What instruments do you play? What\u2019s your favorite?
\nJH: <\/strong>Drums, guitar, sing. Singing is my favorite.
\nBH:<\/strong> Bass is my favorite. I can play a little drums, and piano in the key of C.<\/span><\/p>\n

How did you learn to play?
\nJH: <\/strong>Self-taught. Singing country songs with dad. Playing drums on my bed. Found a guitar and just picked it up.
\nBH: <\/strong>A LOT of practice, instructional DVDs, and help from Silas Reed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nJH: <\/strong>Played drums in a shitty punk band at 13.
\nBH:<\/strong> Trombone for three years, sixth through eighth grade.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nJH: <\/strong>I like to play anything and everything.
\nBH:<\/strong> Anything that has groove or passion.<\/span><\/p>\n

What bands have you been in? What projects are still ongoing?
\nJH: <\/strong>Drum for Skinner Boys. Aaron Hall and The Heard still going on.
\nBH: <\/strong>Silas Reed N Da Books, Astrobots, The Heard.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\nJH: <\/strong>Saosin, Alexis On Fire, Senses Fail\u2014House of Blues N.O.
\nBH: <\/strong>Probably a Cooters show at Double Decker<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite band?
\nJH:<\/strong> I couldn\u2019t possibly have one.
\nBH:<\/strong> Yeah, Death from Above 1979 made me want to play bass.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nJH: <\/strong>The number of people that go to shows could be bigger.
\nBH: <\/strong>More free shows.<\/span><\/p>\n

The best thing about Oxford\u2019s music scene:
\nJH: <\/strong>Local musicians and bands all seem to really help one another. Everyone has each other\u2019s backs.
\nBH: <\/strong>The support from other bands<\/span><\/p>\n

\nJH: <\/strong>Bill Perry Sr. & Jr.
