Indie pop band, Givers<\/strong>, will be performing at Proud Larry\u2019s<\/strong> on October 24th with supporting act, Kind Cousin<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Givers_TourPoster\"<\/a>The Louisiana-based, five-piece band consists of vocalist and percussionist Tiffany Lamson<\/strong>, who also plays ukulele, along with vocalist and guitarist Taylor Guarisco<\/strong>, drummer and vocalist Kirby Campbell<\/strong>, bassist and guitarist Josh LeBlanc<\/strong>, and flutist, saxophonist, and keyboardist Nick Stephan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Birthed in the bleakest conditions, the band was formed when two of its members, Guarisco and Lamson found themselves displaced from their homes at the University of New Orleans, which they were both attending, due to Hurricane Katrina. During that time, the two started playing music together. And it wasn\u2019t long before Guarisco also invited Campbell, LeBlanc, Stephan, and former member Will Henderson<\/strong>. Soon after, the band made their stage debut, with an impromptu performance at a local pub after another band was unable to perform. But they wouldn\u2019t be performing at local pubs for long.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Givers2\"<\/a>Eventually the band was introduced to booking agent, Aaron Scruggs<\/strong>, who landed them an opening slot on tour with The Dirty Projectors<\/strong>. Their streak of fortunate events continued, as they signed with Glassnote Records in 2011. From there, the band recorded their debut album, In Light<\/em>, which was released in 2011 as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the release of their debut album the band has been all over the place and received critical acclaim and praise from the music industry and press alike. They were named one of Stereogum\u2019s bands to watch, as well as one of Paste\u2019s new bands of 2010, in addition to receiving comparisons to indie greats like Animal Collective<\/strong> and Vampire Weekend<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TheGivers\"<\/a>Their catchy first single \u201cUp Up Up\u201d was not only in heavy rotation on radio stations everywhere, but was featured on everything from EA Sports\u2019 FIFA 12<\/em> and the hit television show Glee<\/em>, to commercials for Windows and Nokia. They also performed their single on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the tremendous success of their debut album, Givers have been somewhat under the radar. But fans can get excited as the band prepares not only for their first tour in a while, but for the release of their upcoming album.<\/span><\/p>\n
