On Wednesday, October 8th, there will be a screening of Fed Up<\/em><\/strong>, a documentary that addresses the food industry\u2019s influence on the growing epidemic of childhood obesity in America. According to USA Today<\/em>, Fed Up<\/em> is \u201cthe movie that will change the way people think about eating.\u201d Please join us in the Overby Center<\/strong> at 6 pm next Wednesday for an eye-opening experience. The screening is sponsored by Students for a Green Campus, Student Dietetics Association, Environmental Studies Minor, Office of Sustainability, and Real Food Rebels.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"SCALE_PIC_01<\/a>Film Synopsis:<\/strong> Thirty years ago the U.S. Government issued its first ever dietary guidelines and with it one of the greatest health epidemics of our time ensued. In her documentary feature debut, executive producer and narrator Katie Couric<\/strong> joins Laurie David<\/strong> (An Inconvenient Truth<\/em>), Regina Scully<\/strong> (The Invisible War<\/em>) and Stephanie Soechtig<\/strong> (Tapped<\/em>) to explore why, despite media attention and government policies to combat childhood obesity, generations of kids will now live shorter lives than their parents.<\/span><\/p>\n
