The recipients are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dr. Bryan Barksdale<\/strong> (BS 69, MD 72), of Ridgeland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Victor H. &#8220;Hu&#8221; Meena<\/strong> (BSHPE 80), of Jackson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dr. Clen Damon Moore<\/strong> (BA 86), of Hamilton, Virginia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ronnie Musgrove<\/strong> (BBA 78, JD 81), of Oxford<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>David Nutt<\/strong> (BA 70, JD 71), of Flora.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>2026 Outstanding Young Alumni Award<\/strong> goes to <strong>Casey F. Shockey<\/strong> (BSME 11), of Germantown, Tennessee; and this year&#8217;s <strong>Alumni Service Award <\/strong>recipient is <strong>Cheryl Weakley Turner<\/strong> (BS 79, MPA 90), of Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representing fields as diverse as engineering, medicine, technology, business, education, public service and community leadership, this year&#8217;s recipients have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, service to others and steadfast support of their alma mater. Submitted photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A graduate of UM and the <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/3\/af6069c5260b452a10e841a8184f310e9da92daa35ecc6dd0e95cd156892dff6?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Mississippi Medical Center<\/strong><\/a>, Barksdale is a fellow of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/4\/a23728ee6b5d0638d092d74eeed0f2520861c50e208ed1ca77918e05401e5b2c?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>American College of Cardiology<\/strong><\/a>. He served as president of both the Ole Miss Alumni Association and the <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/5\/644af4b07e084ffeda4e5947cde6c98ecfee1aa65e3c327c78c1b97721d99296?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Mississippi Foundation<\/strong><\/a> and is a member of the University of Mississippi Medical Center Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a medical resident, Barksdale helped establish Mississippi&#8217;s first <strong>YMCA<\/strong> cardiac rehabilitation program, one of the earliest such programs in the nation. He volunteered three days each week to support the initiative for 35 years, earning the YMCA Service to Mankind Award for his commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His professional leadership includes service as governor of the <strong>Mississippi Chapter of the American College of Cardiology<\/strong>, president of the <strong>Mississippi Chapter of the American Heart Association <\/strong>and president of the <strong>Mississippi Arthritis Association<\/strong>. He also served as chief of staff at <strong>Mississippi Baptist Medical Center<\/strong> and advised <strong>Gov. William Winter<\/strong> on physical fitness initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After years in private practice with Baptist Heart and Jackson Heart, Barksdale joined <strong>UMMC <\/strong>in 2008 as professor of cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He and his wife, Jane Anna, have three sons: Hunter, Benjamin and Bryan. Submitted photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As chairman of <strong>Telapex Inc<\/strong>., parent company of <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/6\/8983a0ef0f8d3356052fbdb599dfdfdb7553a11229cbc9ea389bfe1abd80fbc1?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>C Spire<\/strong><\/a>, Meena has helped guide the organization from a single-market wireless provider into a regional leader in telecommunications, broadband connectivity and technology services throughout the Southeast. He began his career with the company in 1987 as general manager of its first Mississippi Gulf Coast market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout his career, Meena has held leadership roles across the telecommunications industry, including serving as founding chairman of the Associated Carrier Group and chairman of the Competitive Carriers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His service extends well beyond business. He has served on the boards of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, <strong>Mississippi Technology Alliance, Mississippi Economic Council, Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, First Presbyterian Day School and the New Orleans Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.<\/strong> He also serves with Reformed Theological Seminary and First Presbyterian Church Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meena is a lifelong supporter of the university, and he and his wife, Ashley, are both Ole Miss graduates. Their three sons \u2013 Vic, Wade and Lee \u2013 also graduated from the university. Submitted photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A native of north Mississippi, Moore became the university&#8217;s 23rd <strong>Rhodes Scholar<\/strong> and the first African American from Mississippi selected for the prestigious scholarship. During his time at Ole Miss, he excelled academically and artistically, earning a <strong>Taylor Medal<\/strong>, election to <strong>Phi Kappa Phi<\/strong> and leadership roles in numerous campus organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following graduation, Moore attended the<strong> Johns Hopkins School of Medicine <\/strong>and later earned a second bachelor&#8217;s degree in English language and literature from the <strong>University of Oxford<\/strong> before completing his medical degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For nearly three decades, he has practiced pediatrics in northern Virginia, helping care for generations of children and families. Submitted photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After earning degrees from <strong>Northwest Mississippi Community College<\/strong>, Ole Miss and the <strong>UM <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/8\/4c3639f16f50d1f875839a4bd4cc5f212aa21c62fb588ba4ce96236500492d48?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Law<\/a><\/strong>, Musgrove established a legal career that earned him the <strong>Mississippi Bar Association&#8217;s Outstanding Service Award<\/strong> in 1985 He is president-elect of the <strong>Ole Miss Law Alumni Chapter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He served two terms in the <strong>Mississippi Senate<\/strong>, a term as lieutenant governor and a term as Mississippi&#8217;s 62nd governor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As governor, Musgrove championed landmark education reforms, including a new public school funding formula, a historic teacher pay raise and efforts to bring internet access to every public classroom. His administration also launched the Advantage Mississippi Initiative, which helped secure Nissan&#8217;s $1.4 billion investment and thousands of jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Musgrove&#8217;s commitment to education continued beyond public office. In honor of his late wife, Dr. Melody Musgrove, he established the first endowed chair in the <strong>Ole Miss <a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/517144a40b2443978877b889400b3f17\/9\/9e5ab6c9c79d249a0ef7ed7edda6728405bc1704b44e6b8e29003128f735b713?cache_buster=1791386959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Education<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His leadership has also extended to health and human services, including efforts that expanded children&#8217;s health insurance coverage and appointments to national policy and public health leadership roles. Musgrove said he is guided by a belief that education and opportunity can transform lives and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As Clifton Taulbert once said, the dirt road from his grandmother&#8217;s house led to everywhere; he just didn&#8217;t know it as a child,&#8221; Musgrove said. &#8220;My time at Ole Miss put me on the road to a lifetime of opportunities. After practicing both plaintiff and corporate defense litigation, he became one of Mississippi&#8217;s leading trial attorneys, earning national recognition for his role in the landmark 1997 tobacco settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond the courtroom, Nutt has found success in real estate development, consumer finance and technology. Among his most notable achievements is <strong>Reunion <\/strong>in Madison, the master-planned community he and his wife, Kristie, developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nutt&#8217;s commitment to Ole Miss is reflected through decades of philanthropy and service. A member of the <strong>Lamar Order<\/strong>, he has supported the School of Law, Ole Miss athletics, the Medical Center, the MIND Center and <strong>Batson Children&#8217;s Hospital<\/strong>. The <strong>David H. Nutt Auditorium <\/strong>stands as a lasting reflection of his dedication to the university and its students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inducted into the law school&#8217;s Hall of Fame in 2026, Nutt continues to practice law with a small team focused on national prescription drug pricing litigation. She previously served as national first vice president and as Southern regional director, overseeing more than 25,000 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professionally, Turner spent more than 30 years in Mississippi state government and healthcare administration, managing large teams and multimillion-dollar budgets before joining <strong>Jefferson Stevens LLC<\/strong> as vice president of client acquisition and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She has held leadership roles with the <strong>American Cancer Society, Moms Demand Action, the Farish Street Historic District Neighborhood Foundation and the University of Mississippi&#8217;s Fraternal Leadership and Learning Advisory Board<\/strong>. He is a licensed professional engineer and private pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under his leadership, Chief Engineering has grown into a multidisciplinary firm serving some of the nation&#8217;s most complex industrial facilities while creating opportunities for engineers and technical professionals throughout the Mid-South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shockey remains closely connected to his alma mater through service on the Department of Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board, where he helps bridge industry and academic needs. He actively recruits Ole Miss graduates, provides internship opportunities and mentors young engineers entering the profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond engineering, Shockey supports entrepreneurship and business development initiatives throughout the Memphis region.
