Following a thrilling 32-24 victory over No. 7 LSU <\/strong>in one of the premiere games of the weekend this past Saturday, Ole Miss<\/strong> football head coach Pete Golding<\/strong> was named the Bear Bryant Awards National Coach of the Week<\/strong>, announced on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With ESPN\u2019s College Gameday<\/strong> in the Grove to begin the day, the nation\u2019s eyes were focused on Oxford,<\/strong> Mississippi <\/strong>this past Saturday evening as a top 10 SEC matchup kicked off in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium<\/strong>. The Rebels <\/strong>took the first lead of the game with a field goal by Lucas Carneiro<\/strong> before Kewan Lacy<\/strong> muscled his way into the endzone to put No. 8 Ole Miss up 10-0 on the Tigers near the end of the first quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trinidad Chambliss<\/strong> would score one of his three total touchdowns midway through the second quarter, finding Traylon Ray<\/strong> for a 21-yard score to go up 17-0. While the visitors got on the board with just under two minutes left before halftime, the Rebels orchestrated a drive that ended in a Deuce Alexander <\/strong>touchdown from Chambliss, setting the halftime score at 24-7 in favor of the home team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSU made it a 10-point game with a score on their second drive of the third quarter, before pulling within three on the ensuing possession, making it a 24-21 Ole Miss lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early in the fourth quarter, the visitors would drive down the field before the Ole Miss defense forced a field goal attempt from LSU to draw the game even at 24-24. Beginning on their own 25-yard line on the next possession, the Rebels drove the field before Chambliss flew down the left side of the field for a 14-yard rushing touchdown. A two-point conversion by Ole Miss made it 32-24 and gave LSU the ball with just over six minutes to play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Tigers would eventually find themselves in the red zone with just under two minutes left, the Ole Miss defense held strong. On a fourth-and-goal play, Kam Franklin<\/strong> tipped a pass that found the hands of Jaylon Braxton<\/strong> in the endzone, sending a Vaught-Heminway Stadium record crowd of 70,033 into a frenzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Golding has begun his first full season at the helm of the Ole Miss program 3-0, with victories over No. 24 Louisville<\/strong>, Charlotte<\/strong>, and now No. 7 LSU. Recently elevated to No. 4 in the AP Poll, the Rebels will head south to take on No. 21 Florida <\/strong>in Gainesville next on Saturday, September 26 at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
