Theatre Oxford<\/strong> is accepting submissions for its annual 10-Minute Play Contest<\/strong> through September 15, giving playwrights an opportunity to have their work considered for production during the organization\u2019s 2027 festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contest is open to original plays that have never been produced. Plays must be no more than 10 pages, excluding the title and cast pages, and should have two to four characters with minimal props and costumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contest offers a $1,000 LW Thomas Grand Prize<\/strong> and production of the winning play in Oxford. The second-place winner will receive $250, while third place receives $100. The top three winners also will receive a free,\u00a0yearlong\u00a0subscription to PlaysubmissionsHelper.com<\/a><\/strong>, an online directory of play submission opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All finalists are considered for production in Theatre Oxford\u2019s 10-Minute Play Festival, scheduled for February 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theatre Oxford asks playwrights to follow specific formatting requirements to maintain an anonymous judging process. The first page should include the title, cast of characters and time and place information. The second page should begin the script. The title and page number should appear in the header of each script page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authors should remove their names and other identifying information from the script, headers, file name and document properties before submitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The submission fee is $12. Each play must be submitted with a separate entry form and fee. After paying the fee, entrants will receive access to the submission form and an upload field for their manuscript. Scripts must be submitted as a .docx or .pdf file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submissions are judged anonymously through multiple rounds by multiple reviewers. All entrants will be notified of the final judging results, and winners will be contacted by Dec. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enter, playwrights should visit oxfordarts.com<\/a> and select the Theatre Oxford 10-Minute Play Contest 2026. After paying the entry fee, they will receive a link to submit their information and manuscript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
