Ole Miss Women\u2019s Basketball Head Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin<\/strong> has returned to serve as the Senior Women\u2019s head coach for The Bahamas National Team<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is an honor to return back to my duties with the Senior Women\u2019s National Team as head coach,\u201d said McPhee-McCuin. \u201cI think this is the perfect time to revitalize women\u2019s basketball in the Bahamas and start our journey to 2028 Olympics. I am asking all that are able, to support our Women\u2019s programs. There is no doubt in my mind that we too can represent the 242 in an outstanding way on the National scene.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McPhee-McCuin will lead the Bahamian team in the FIBA Women\u2019s AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifier<\/strong>, taking place from July 12\u201318, 2026, at the Polideportivo Alexis Arg\u00fcello in Managua, Nicaragua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FIBA Women\u2019s AmeriCup 2027 Centrobasket Qualifier, previously known as the FIBA Women’s Centrobasket Championship, will feature eight national teams from the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA): Bahamas, Guyana, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and hosts Nicaragua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the competition, the top three teams will secure qualification for the FIBA Women\u2019s AmeriCup 2027 and will join El Salvador, which has already qualified automatically as host of the continental tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McPhee-McCuin previously served as head coach for her home country in 2014\u201317. Under her guidance, the Bahamas won the 2015 CBC Basketball Championship for women, as the best national team in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nassau, Bahamas, native also served as an assistant coach for the Bahamian Senior Men\u2019s national team during World Cup Qualifiers. The historic honor allowed McPhee-McCuin to become the first woman to coach with the men\u2019s senior national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
