{"id":159372,"date":"2026-05-27T10:31:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T15:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=159372"},"modified":"2026-05-27T10:31:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T15:31:13","slug":"delta-blues-museum-receives-mac-mini-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/delta-blues-museum-receives-mac-mini-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta Blues Museum Receives MAC Mini Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>$1,000 grant awarded for staff training and education<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Delta Blues Museum<\/strong>\u00a0is the recipient of a $1,000 mini grant from the <strong>Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC)<\/strong>, awarded to support professional training and continued education for Museum staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Museum Director <strong>Shelley Ritter<\/strong> says the educational opportunities funded by the grant will help the Museum better serve its visitors<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>by allowing\u00a0Museum staff to attend the joint meeting of the <strong>Museum Store Association<\/strong> as well as the <strong>American Alliance of Museums<\/strong> conference. She adds, &#8220;Promoting education is a key component in the strategic plan of the Delta Blues Museum, and this grant supports opportunities for Museum staff to discover fresh ideas and proven strategies for merchandising, marketing, operations and sales.\u00a0Our participation presents a great opportunity for the Museum to help expand our tourism reach by engaging with attendees and exhibitors worldwide.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mississippi Arts Commission is a state agency serving more than two million people through grants and special initiatives that enhance communities, assist artists and arts organizations, promote arts education and celebrate Mississippi\u2019s cultural heritage. MAC is funded by the <strong>Mississippi Legislature<\/strong>, the <strong>National Endowment for the Arts<\/strong>, the <strong>Mississippi Endowment for the Arts at the Community Foundation for\u00a0Mississippi<\/strong> and other private sources.
