On April 10, 2026, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong> received a phone call regarding a wanted suspect, James Cameron Willard<\/strong> (26 years old, male), being seen within Lafayette County<\/strong>. Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Department<\/strong> followed up with the information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Department and Oxford Police Department<\/strong> attempted to locate James Cameron Willard, who had was determined to have an outstanding Felony Fleeing and Eluding warrant with Panola County<\/strong>, an active misdemeanor warrant for Domestic Violence- Simple Assault with Lafayette, and was a suspect in a Felony Fleeing incident with Oxford Police Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oxford Police Officers located Willard, and Willard began to flee in a vehicle from Oxford Police Officers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Deputies assisted in the pursuit where Willard struck a Lafayette County Sheriff Department patrol vehicle. James Willard and Hayden Boyd<\/strong> then fled on foot where they were later located. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Willard was subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Willard appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Sunday, April 12, 2026 and was issued a $1,000,000.00 bond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Willard is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center on a hold for Panola County for an active felony warrant and the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
