MacEachern Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship Endowment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacEachern and his son, Taylor, established the endowment in 2020\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/647fbcfceda241cda0319a01f2e35631\/1\/64a29113542913c38435ea94591afcfc6a9cb7f2c716865a23f1f9199830e0e9?cache_buster=1775323170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with a gift of $300,000<\/a>\u00a0as a memorial to their wife and mother, the late<strong> Jane Bradley MacEachern<\/strong>. She graduated from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/647fbcfceda241cda0319a01f2e35631\/2\/b80f54c8bfc5e9cd6e5801659b28e979caa0a198b0dcc7d79ecfbe8b4ca3d0f6?cache_buster=1775323170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School of Pharmacy<\/a>\u00a0in 1981 and later earned a doctorate in pharmacy at the <strong>University of Tennessee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jane MacEachern devoted much of her 39-year professional career to designing and implementing oncology drug trials, research that made a significant impact in the lives of cancer patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;One of the primary goals for my estate is to support educational opportunities at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/647fbcfceda241cda0319a01f2e35631\/3\/b40d699f629296038210ead6be367d0840bc0bd8058591c1f41eaf0ef5e88012?cache_buster=1775323170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Mississippi<\/a>,&#8221; Doug MacEachern said. &#8220;I made the planned gift at this time to ensure my goals are achieved in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I hope the gift will provide the opportunity for students to obtain their dreams of attending Ole Miss and earning a degree from the School of Pharmacy. I would like to make an impact on the lives of the students who are awarded the <strong>Jane B. Photo by Sally Rychlak\/UM Development<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A Mississippi State University alumnus, MacEachern retired from <strong>Shell Oil Co<\/strong>. after working 38 years for the company as a petroleum engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MacEacherns made additional gifts in 2021 and 2022, increasing the endowment to $900,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The University of Mississippi was the enabler for Jane to reach her first goal of receiving an undergraduate degree in pharmacy,&#8221; her husband said. &#8220;Our son, Taylor, and I want other students to have the opportunities afforded her.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Taylor MacEachern<\/strong> said his mother was continually focused on service to individuals living with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My mom was always willing to get involved, helping to determine a course of action for those who might otherwise be lost in the nightmare of a cancer diagnosis,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Donna Strum<\/strong>, dean of the pharmacy school, said estate gifts like MacEachern&#8217;s are greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Planned gifts have a generational impact, ensuring that current and future students have the support they need to obtain pharmacy degrees without facing the challenge of financial hardship,&#8221; Strum said. &#8220;I&#8217;m so thankful for Doug&#8217;s vision for the future of our school and his desire to see our students reach their goals.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2020, 18 pharmacy students have received the MacEachern Scholarship for a total award of more than $110,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jane B. MacEachern Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship Endowment is open to support from businesses and individuals.
