Friday, April 17, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at “The Den” in LeFleur’s Bluff State Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks\u2019 (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS)<\/strong> invites the public to celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday and enjoy an unforgettable night under the stars with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO)<\/strong>. The 4th Annual \u201cMoonlight, Music, and Meteors\u201d <\/strong>event will take place Friday, April 17, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at \u201cThe Den\u201d in beautiful LeFleur\u2019s Bluff State Park<\/strong>. Visitors will enjoy celebratory music that reflects on our history through a Mississippi lens followed by popular astronomy-themed music with a “space” feel. Tickets are $20 online until noon on April 16 or $25 at the door: https:\/\/www.mdwfp.com\/events\/moonlight-music-meteors<\/a>. Skenny Burgers<\/strong> and The Pig and Pint<\/strong> will have concessions available to purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Celebration of Nature, Music, and Community<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors can also interact with NASA\u2019s Solar System <\/strong>Ambassadors and area physicists and astronomers. Guests are invited to bring\u00a0lawn chairs or blankets\u00a0and enjoy a spectacular night of\u00a0live music, cosmic wonders,\u00a0and family fun. They might even see the Lyrid meteor shower!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collaborative event between MDWFP, MMNS, The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation<\/strong> (MMNSF), and MSO<\/strong> is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commissio<\/strong>n and the National Endowment for the Arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMoonlight, Music, and Meteors is a perfect reflection of what the museum strives to offer which are memorable experiences that connect science, culture, and community,\u201d said Museum Director\u00a0Angel Rohnke.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMNSF, which helps support the Museum and this beloved event, echoed the sentiment: \u201cThis is one of those evenings that reminds us why community support matters. We are proud to help make experiences like this possible,\u201d said\u00a0MMNSF Executive Director Susan Frazier.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSO President and Executive Director Janet Reihle<\/strong> said, \u201cMoonlight, Music, and Meteors is one of my favorite performances each year because it brings together people of all ages. You will see senior citizens enjoying the music, young professionals on date night, and families spread out on blankets with their children experiencing the symphony under the stars. It is a wonderful reminder that music has the power to bring an entire community together. Our partnership with MMNS adds a special dimension to the evening. I still have the constellation app on my phone from last year\u2019s event. The engagement from their staff and professional volunteers helps guests explore the night sky while they enjoy the music, turning the performance into a truly immersive experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
