Oxford High School<\/strong> will present the 6th Annual Choir and Orchestra Masterworks Concert<\/strong> this Friday, March 20th, at 7:30 pm in the Ava H. Bonds Auditorium<\/strong> at Oxford High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, the ensembles come together to perform a major choral and orchestral masterwork\u2014a large-scale piece that features vocal soloists and requires a wider variety of instruments than standard choir or orchestra concerts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s performance will feature Mozart\u2019s Requiem in d minor<\/em><\/strong>. <\/em>The concert is the culmination of months of hard work by Oxford High School\u2019s choir and orchestra students. The choir is directed by Dr. Thomas Ardrey<\/strong>, and the orchestra is directed by Ceresa Caudill. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Masterworks Concert Series<\/strong> has become a signature event for the Oxford High School fine arts programs, and its success has drawn recognition from music educators beyond Mississippi. Earlier this spring, Dr. Ardrey presented a session titled \u201cProgramming, Planning, and Performing Masterworks with High School Choirs\u201d at the South Carolina Music Educators Association 2026 State Conference<\/strong>, where he shared strategies for bringing large-scale pieces to high school ensembles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation highlighted the success of Oxford High School\u2019s Masterworks Concert Series, which continues this Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community is invited to attend and experience the performance. The concert is free and open to the public. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
