Izzy Arthurs returns to Oxford with new single \u201cNavy Suit,\u201d launches DIY US tour<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A year ago, singer-songwriter Izzy Arthurs<\/strong> packed out Proud Larry\u2019s<\/strong> to the point where a line wrapped down the block. Some friends never made it inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the Ole Miss<\/strong> senior was riding the momentum of a breakout local show and a batch of fresh originals, including early singles like \u201cThe Skeptic.\u201d Now, in March 2026, Arthurs is stepping into a new chapter\u2014one that begins with her single \u201cNavy Suit\u201d<\/strong> and a 14-date, fully independent US tour that circles back through Oxford<\/strong> on March 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel like I live out of a suitcase,\u201d Arthurs said in a recent interview. \u201cI\u2019m kind of in that \u2018bouncing around\u2019 era.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A song born in an Oxford apartment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Though she\u2019s currently based in Jackson, Tennessee<\/strong>, \u201cNavy Suit\u201d was written last spring in her Oxford apartment. The song\u2019s unlikely muse: a navy suit left behind at her place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomebody had left their dry cleaning at my house,\u201d she said. \u201cIt just kind of became this talisman of grief. It was hanging there under the plastic, and it started to infiltrate my subconscious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, she began imagining the story from the suit\u2019s perspective\u2014preserved beneath dry-cleaner plastic, waiting in quiet denial. Built around a simple, synth-driven arpeggio she worked out on a keyboard in her room, the song \u201cjust kind of fell into my lap,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthurs, who experiences synesthesia, associates each of her songs with colors and textures. \u201cIt\u2019s very dark and blue,\u201d she said of \u201cNavy Suit.\u201d \u201cIt almost feels like it\u2019s underwater or behind something\u2014like it\u2019s behind the plastic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the summer, she traveled from Oxford to Jackson, Tennessee, to record the track in a bedroom studio with a producer friend from high school. The sessions marked her first time developing a creative shorthand with a producer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was a special kind of stepping stone,\u201d she said. \u201cLearning how to build that language\u2014that\u2019s an art in itself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is a brooding, synth-laced indie track that leans into atmosphere without sacrificing lyrical precision. The press release describes the suit as \u201ca symbol of intimacy and intention,\u201d tracing the unraveling from devotion to loss, and finally, release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From packed house to packed van<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Arthurs first headlined at Proud Larry\u2019s in February 2025, she called it a turning point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo me, my persona was born in Oxford at that first Proud Larry show,\u201d she said. \u201cIt really showed me that this is possible. So I\u2019m going to do everything I can to realize it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, she returns with a road-tested five-piece band and a rickety van, embarking on what she describes as a couch-surfing, DIY tour built almost entirely through cold emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a relentless mission,\u201d she said with a laugh. \u201cI\u2019m almost immune to rejection at this point. Every \u2018no\u2019 was just, \u2018Okay, we\u2019ll pivot this way.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 14-date run begins March 6 in Memphis<\/strong> and winds through Nashville, Louisville, Ohio, upstate New York, Providence, Brooklyn, and Raleigh before looping back through Chattanooga and Mississippi. In addition to Oxford, she\u2019ll play Starkville and Jackson, Mississippi, before wrapping in Jackson, Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\u2019s especially excited about performing in Brooklyn\u2014her first New York City show\u2014and about reconnecting with friends from her Ole Miss years along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of a friend reunion tour,\u201d she said. \u201cBut it\u2019s also been restoring my faith in humanity. The DIY community\u2014that reciprocity and generosity\u2014it\u2019s still alive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her core band, including bassist Tyrell Williams<\/strong>, has been developing the live show for nearly a year. Arthurs promises that the interior, almost submerged world of \u201cNavy Suit\u201d will translate into something more theatrical and communal onstage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building it step by step<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2025, Arthurs described a music career as \u201ca million baby steps in the right direction.\u201d That philosophy still guides her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since graduation, she has sharpened her focus on the business side by building an electronic press kit, refining her website, and releasing singles strategically to build momentum. While she plans to continue rolling out individual tracks, she is also eyeing a more cohesive EP project later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really want to work on a full, well thought out, tie-it-in-a-bow kind of project,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s something to be said for that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, \u201cNavy Suit\u201d serves as the first chapter\u2014a dark-blue dispatch from a songwriter who has long used music to process life and connect with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she steps back onto the stage at Proud Larry\u2019s on March 19, the room may feel familiar, but the scope is larger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a suit hanging in an Oxford closet to a 14-city run across the eastern United States, Arthurs is no longer just testing the waters. She\u2019s taking the plunge\u2014plastic, blue hues, and all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
