{"id":155424,"date":"2026-02-11T18:26:53","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T00:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=155424"},"modified":"2026-02-11T18:26:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T00:26:56","slug":"suspect-arrested-on-theft-of-motor-vehicle-on-county-road-321-in-lafayette-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/suspect-arrested-on-theft-of-motor-vehicle-on-county-road-321-in-lafayette-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect Arrested on Theft of Motor Vehicle on County Road 321 in Lafayette County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong> has arrested\u00a0<strong>Jason Surrett <\/strong>(49 years old), a <strong>Lafayette County<\/strong> resident, in connection with an investigation involving a theft of a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 5, 2026, the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office received a call for service regarding a vehicle that was stolen from a residence in the area of <strong>County Road 321<\/strong>. Deputies responded to the scene and spoke to the victim. The victim advised Deputies that his work vehicle was stolen from his driveway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies gathered information and began searching for the suspect and the vehicle. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle and suspect, identified as Jason Surrett, a short time later. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the investigation, Surrett was charged under Mississippi Code \u00a797-17-42\u00a0Motor Vehicle-Taking. Surrett was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where he was booked on the charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 6, 2026, Surrett appeared before a <strong>Lafayette County Justice Court Judge<\/strong> and was issued a\u00a0$5,000 bond.
