The Oxford Police Department<\/strong> congratulates all of the award winners recognized at the 2026 Oxford Peace Officers\u2019 Officer of the Year Banquet<\/strong>. We especially congratulate Sergeant Hillary Smith<\/strong>, who was named the 2025 Officer of the Year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEach year, as our Officer of the Year banquet approaches, one of the first names that comes to mind is Hillary Smith,\u201d said Chief Jeff McCutchen<\/strong>. \u201cFrom the moment she joined our department, it was clear that she was an exceptional person. She has developed into an outstanding officer and a trusted leader. Her passion for the profession and her genuine compassion for the people we serve are second to none. When a complex case arises or a special assignment needs to be handled well, we all look to see if Hillary is on duty because there is nothing she cannot accomplish. She consistently brings professionalism, commitment, and excellence to everything she does. It is a point of great pride to recognize Sgt. Hillary Smith as our Officer of the Year. She sets a high standard every day and challenges all of us to be better. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful to have her representing this department.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sgt. Smith is the 29th recipient, and first female recipient, of the R.L.\u2018Bob\u2019 Jones Memorial Officer of the Year Award<\/strong>. She is widely respected for her leadership, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to the citizens of Oxford and the Oxford Police Department. She is a 7-year veteran of the Oxford Police Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am truly honored and grateful to receive the Officer of the Year award at the Oxford Police Department,\u201d said Sgt. Hillary Smith. \u201cThis recognition is especially meaningful to me because it reflects the incredible people I am surrounded by every day\u2014my fellow officers and staff members, our leadership, and the community we serve. I am especially thankful for my husband and family, whose constant support, encouragement, and sacrifices make this career possible. Serving such a caring and supportive community is a privilege, and I am proud to be part of a department that values service, compassion, and working together to keep Oxford safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
