On November 14, 2025, the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong> initiated an investigation into a series of automobile burglaries occurring along Highway 30<\/strong> East. The investigation was prompted by reports of a suspicious individual attempting to enter vehicles in the Woodson Ridge Farms<\/strong> neighborhood around 1:16 am Although deputies responded promptly, the individual was not located at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 7:15 am, multiple reports indicated that vehicles in the area had been rifled through, with several firearms and personal items missing from their owners’ vehicles. Initial reports have been documented, and investigators were dispatched to canvas the area for additional evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Utilizing video surveillance footage obtained from local homeowners, investigators identified a suspect vehicle\u2014described as a silver SUV with a dent on the passenger side rear bumper\u2014along with two individuals entering the vehicles. Time stamps on the footage were captured between midnight and 1:04 am on the morning of the burglaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further investigation revealed that Da`Kiren McCuiston<\/strong>, 22 years old of Holcomb, Mississippi<\/strong>, linked to an individual associated with the vehicle, has an extensive criminal history. The Grenada County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong>, alerted by Lafayette County<\/strong> investigators, located the suspect vehicle later that day. McCuiston and the vehicle\u2019s driver were detained after police discovered evidence linking them to the burglaries, including items identified by victims in Lafayette County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCuiston was arrested on scene and interviewed by Lafayette County Investigators. Through information obtained from the vehicle and interview, investigators were able to identify a second suspect, Zar`Tavius Deon Harbin<\/strong>, 21 years old of Grenada<\/strong>, Mississippi. A warrant was been issued for his arrest and was later captured by United States Deputy Marshals<\/strong> in Memphis, Tennessee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A search warrant executed at McCuiston\u2019s residence uncovered 25 firearms, many reported stolen, further linking him to a broader network of auto burglaries in the region. Lafayette County Investigators have collected evidence linking McQuiston to Auto Burglaries in the following jurisdictions: Union County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Pontotoc County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Itawamba County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Prentiss County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Rankin County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Grenada County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Newton County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Clarke County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Leflore County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Marshall County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Saltillo Police Department<\/strong>, and Greenwood Police Department<\/strong>. These agencies have been contacted and provided the information collected from Lafayette County Investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McCuiston was initially charged with two counts of commercial burglary and is pending indictment for 23 total counts in relation to multiple auto burglaries across Lafayette County. McCuiston was issued a $50,000.00 bond by a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge<\/strong>. McCuiston was later released to the Union County Sheriff\u2019s Office after he made a bond from Lafayette County Jail<\/strong>. McCuiston is facing charges in multiple jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zar`Tavius Deon Harbin was extradited from Memphis, Tennessee to Lafayette County Jail on December 1, 2025. Harbin was also initially charged with two counts of Commercial Burglary and is pending indictment for 13 total counts in relation to multiple auto burglaries across Lafayette County. Harbin appeared before a Justice Court Judge on December 2, 2025 and was issued a $50,000.00 bond. Harbin was later released from Lafayette County Jal after posting a bond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This case emphasizes the ongoing commitment of the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office to ensure community safety and the swift identification and apprehension of individuals involved in criminal activities. The Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office would like to thank the Grenada County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Grenada Police Department for their contribution to this investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
