Jury selection for the retrial of Timothy Herrington<\/strong> began Monday, December 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herrington is charged with killing University of Mississippi<\/strong> student Jimmie \u201cJay\u201d Lee<\/strong> in 2022. A trial was held in December 2024, but it ended with a hung jury. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of the ongoing media coverage of the case, a judge gave the OK to select a jury in Madison County.<\/strong> The jurors will be taken to Lafayette County<\/strong>, where they will stay for the duration of the trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee disappeared July 8, 2022<\/a>. The 20-year-old was last seen at an apartment complex in\u00a0Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>. Although Lee’s body wasn’t found at the time, Sheldon \u2018Timothy\u2019 Herrington Jr.<\/a> was charged with the murder and was tried in 2024. However, the case ended in a mistrial after jurors were unable to convict. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee’s body was found in 2025<\/a> by hunters in Carrol County, Mississippi. On February 11, 2025,\u00a0Timothy Herrington Jr., 22, of\u00a0Grenada, <\/strong>Mississippi\u00a0turned himself in to law enforcement and was arraigned on the charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence (MS Code 97-9-125(1)(a) in relation to the body of\u00a0Jimmie \u201cJay\u201d Lee\u00a0being located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
