Made famous by the 1950 movie adaptation starring <strong>Jimmy Stewart<\/strong>, the play centers around a man with an invisible six-foot rabbit as his best friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/HarveyPosterFinal.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"817\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-15340\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/HarveyPosterFinal.jpg?resize=600%2C817\" alt=\"Harvey1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/HarveyPosterFinal.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/HarveyPosterFinal.jpg?resize=220%2C300&amp;ssl=1 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>Coming soon to an Oxford stage, <em>Harvey<\/em> is being produced by <strong>Theatre Oxford<\/strong> with <strong>Andy Douglas<\/strong> as director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cThe challenge with bringing such a well-loved show to the stage is that people have expectations; they love <em>Harvey<\/em> already, whether they\u2019ve seen the movie or the play,\u201d producer <strong>Melissa Graves<\/strong> said.\u00a0\u201cBut as we know, Oxford brims with talent, and once again, Andy Douglas has brilliantly assembled some of the town\u2019s finest.\u00a0This is truly community theater at its best\u2014taking some of Oxford\u2019s most talented people and watching them bring <em>Harvey<\/em> to life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em>Harvey<\/em> premiered on Broadway in 1944 and closed after 1,775 performances. The play also opened in London and Paris and was revived on Broadway in 1970. It reopened on Broadway in 2012 starring <strong>Jim Parsons<\/strong> of <em>Big Bang Theory<\/em> television show fame.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The story revolves around Elwood P. Dowd, an affable man with an imaginary rabbit friend. He introduces Harvey to everyone he meets which makes his sister Veta uncomfortable so she decides to have him committed. A comedy of errors ensues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cIt\u2019s been a wonderful experience to be back on stage with such a lovely, talented group of actors working to bring this beloved story to life,\u201d <strong>Matthew Graves<\/strong>, who plays Elwood P. Dowd, said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The play will be hosted at the <strong>Powerhouse Community Arts Center<\/strong> (413 South 14th St) from\u00a0<strong>August 20\u201324<\/strong>. All shows\u00a0August 20\u201323\u00a0are at 7:30\u00a0pm with a matinee show on Sunday, August 24 at 2 pm. Seating is limited and tickets are on sale now for $20 for members and $30 for non-members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Daniel Lee Perea<\/strong> plays Dr. Sanderson. <strong>Jonathan Miller<\/strong> takes on the role of Wilson. <strong>Alyssa Schnugg<\/strong> will return to stage as Veta Simmons. <strong>David O.
