In honor of well-known author and alumna <strong>Angie Thomas<\/strong>, the University will present the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.belhaven.edu\/academics\/arts\/creative-writing\/scholarship.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Angie Thomas Writers Scholarship<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to one incoming creative writing major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now in its sixth year, the scholarship is named in honor of Thomas, author of<em> New York Times<\/em> best-selling novels\u00a0<strong><em>The Hate U Give<\/em>,\u00a0<em>On the Come Up<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Concrete Rose<\/em><\/strong>, and\u00a0<em><strong>Nic Blake and the Remarkables<\/strong>.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cThe Angie Thomas Writers Scholarship is such a financial blessing for students, and I\u2019m deeply honored that Belhaven not only established it but chose to name it after me,\u201d said Thomas.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will submit samples of their writing, and Belhaven will award one incoming freshman a full-ride scholarship covering tuition, room, and board for four years. Additional scholarships may be awarded to other applicants through the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas believes the scholarship is helping young writers turn their dreams into reality.&nbsp;\u201cTo know that another young writer will be given the opportunity to grow their craft at a Christ-centered environment is powerful. That\u2019s not just good news for writing but for the Kingdom impact it will have.
