GRAMMY-nominated Memphis-based roots, blues, and soul band\u00a0<\/a>Southern Avenue<\/strong><\/a><\/a>\u00a0will celebrate the release of their Alligator Records<\/strong> debut album,\u00a0Family<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, with a free performance as part of the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour<\/strong> at the Powerhouse Arts Center<\/strong> in Oxford on\u00a0Thursday, September 25, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southern Avenue plays original Memphis<\/strong> blues, modern soul, and gospel-infused roots music that is uplifting and timeless. They are known worldwide for their inclusive, message-driven songs fueled by hard-hitting grooves and electrifying guitar. The band\u2019s new album,\u00a0Family<\/em><\/strong>, makes it clear that Southern Avenue creates musical storytelling magic. The band is unlike any other on the scene today, featuring lead vocalist\/songwriter\u00a0Tierinii Jackson<\/strong>, her husband, guitarist\/songwriter\u00a0Ori Naftaly<\/strong>, and her sisters, drummer\/vocalist\/songwriter\u00a0Tikyra (T.K.) Jackson\u00a0<\/strong>and percussionist\/violinist\/vocalist\u00a0Ava Jackson<\/strong>. \u201cThrough our music,\u201d says Naftaly, \u201cwe expand our family to include our fans and whomever is moved by our songs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the band joined the Outlaw Music Festival <\/strong>tour, performing alongside Willie Nelson<\/strong>, John Mellencamp<\/strong>, and Bob Dylan<\/strong>. Additionally, the group also received a Blues Music Award<\/strong> nomination for Band of the Year, marking the third time they have been nominated for this high honor<\/a>. In addition to the new album, lead vocalist Tierinii Jackson appears on two songs on the soundtrack of the blockbuster film\u00a0Sinners<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0Recently,\u00a0Living Blues<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0magazine’s readers chose Southern Avenue as the 2025 Band of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
