Freezer Burn <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Head Coach Hugh Freeze<\/strong> made public comments in response to Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini<\/strong>. Pelini asked the media to \u201cread between the lines\u201d and called Ole Miss<\/strong> wide receiver Damore’rea Stringfellow<\/strong>‘s mom \u201cclueless\u201d when asked about losing the prized recruit to the Rebels.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"2014OleMissSchedule_spaceleft\"<\/a>\u201cWe\u2019re certainly confident in the way our coaching staff goes about doing things,\u201d Freeze said. \u201cI reached out to him (Pelini)<\/em> and said \u2018hey, if you have something that I don\u2019t know, please call me.\u2019 I got no response. I don\u2019t know. I will say this, the lady I dealt with was very charming, intelligent and very observant. I think there are a lot of reasons that it may have gone our way. I\u2019m sure he had a reason he said it. We\u2019re glad we have String and his mom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s Time! <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"RossBjorkWeb\"<\/a>Chucky Mullins<\/strong> will be honored this year during the weekend Ole Miss takes on Memphis<\/strong> at Oxford. Athletic Director Ross Bjork<\/strong> disclosed a commemorative helmet the Rebels will wear on September 27 when they host Memphis. The traditional script Ole Miss will be replaced with the No. 38 in honor of the late Mullins.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mullins, a defensive back for the Rebels during the Billy Brewer<\/strong> years, was paralyzed during a 1989 game against Vanderbilt<\/strong> and died two years later. Each year, a defensive player is honored with the Chucky Mullins Courage Award<\/strong><\/a> and wears No. 38 for the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sixth year senior DT Shackelford<\/strong> received the honor this year making him the only two time recipient of the award. When asked about what that meant to him, Shackleford responded, \u201cTwo words. The World.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to call the weekend, \u2018It\u2019s Time,\u2019 in celebration of the life and spirit of Chucky Mullins,\u201d said Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork. \u201cWe\u2019re excited about this. It\u2019s a great way to remember him during the 25th year after his accident. We\u2019re proud to continue his spirit here at the University of Mississippi.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Coliseum Drive, which connects the campus with Highway 6, will be renamed Chucky Mullins Drive with a dedication ceremony planned for Friday, Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Robert C. Khayat Law Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, Mullins headlines a group of six outstanding individuals that will be inducted into the M-Club Hall of Fame<\/a>, including Julie Link Clark<\/strong> (volleyball, 1983-86)<\/em>, Armintie Price Herrington<\/strong> (basketball, 2003-07)<\/em>, Burney Hutchinson<\/strong> (baseball, 1999-2002)<\/em>, Ken Lucas<\/strong> (football, 1997-99),<\/em> and Chip Sullivan<\/strong> (golf, 1984-86)<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

All past recipients of the award are expected to attend the celebration.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SEC Network and ESPN Films will air a documentary on the life of Chucky Mullins later this fall. The title? ‘It’s Time!<\/em>‘<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Wallace at 100 percent<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"BoPhotosWallace201\"<\/a>Senior quarterback Bo Wallace<\/strong> has recovered from a nagging shoulder injury and surgery that plagued the signal caller at times in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n
