On August 24, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong> received a call for service in the area of Highway 6 East<\/strong>. The caller advised that they were assaulted and needed medical assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emergency Medical Services and Deputies arrived on scene and transported the victim to the Baptist Memorial Hospital<\/strong> in Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>. Investigators were called to the Hospital to begin an investigation regarding the assault. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A suspect was identified as Robert Wayne Carter<\/strong>, 57 years old of Oxford, Mississippi. Due to the injuries the victim sustained as a result of the assault, Robert Wayne Carter was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault- Manifesting Extreme Indifference to Human Life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carter was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong> on August 24, 2025. Carter appeared before a Justice Court Judge <\/strong>on Monday, August 25, 2025, and received a $25,000.00 bond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victim received medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
