Tassels Chapter earns fourth consecutive Gold Torch Award<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Mortar Board national honor society has honored its University of Mississippi<\/strong>‘s chapter for demonstrating commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chapter brought home several honors in the annual awards program, including its fourth consecutive\u00a0Gold Torch Award<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0which recognizes chapters “that are active on their campus in ways that improve the quality of student life.”\u00a0Ole Miss<\/a>\u00a0also captured a Project Excellence Award<\/strong> in Alumni Involvement, an Inclusive Excellence Award<\/strong> and an Outstanding Achievement Award <\/strong>in New Member Tapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m incredibly proud of the 2024-25 executive committee and general members, as they worked diligently to fulfill the purposes of\u00a0Mortar Board<\/a>\u00a0while continuing to elevate the profile of the Tassels Chapter,” said Brent Marsh<\/strong>, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs, dean of students and chapter adviser. “These awards are a testament to their dedication and leadership.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ole Miss is one of just five universities nationwide to receive the Inclusive Excellence Award, alongside Auburn University, San Diego State University, University of Findlay, and University of Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tassels Chapter <\/strong>was selected for this award because of its support of the annual Books and Bears program coordinated by the Black Faculty and Staff Association. The chapter hosts a book drive to promote donations from the student body, this year doubling the number of collection sites and increasing the number of books contributed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college juniors and seniors for exemplary scholarship, leadership and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
