On August 16, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office<\/strong> responded to County Road 430<\/strong> for a man attempting to enter a residence through a window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to Deputies arriving on scene, the homeowner confronted the suspect, Luis Ortiz-Mendez<\/strong> (Hispanic male, 21 years old, of Paris, Mississippi<\/strong>), and was able to apprehend him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once deputies arrived on scene, Ortiz-Mendez was taken into custody without further incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ortiz-Mendez was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong>, where he was later issued a $20,000 bond set by the justice court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ortiz-Mendez also currently has a hold for United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/strong> (ICE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
