Burnside\u2019s youngest son\u2014is taking center stage with his first solo album, <em>It\u2019s My Time Now<\/em>. Long recognized for his work with <strong>Junior Kimbrough<\/strong>, <strong>North Mississippi Allstars<\/strong>, <strong>Hill Country Revue<\/strong>, and <strong>Cedric Burnside<\/strong>, Garry brings his own voice and vision to a project with roots in tradition while also exploring fresh territory.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Recorded at the legendary <strong>Royal Studios<\/strong> in <strong>Memphis<\/strong> with Grammy-winning producer <strong>Boo Mitchell<\/strong>, <em>It\u2019s My Time Now<\/em> features nine Garry originals, a co-write with Kimbrough called &#8220;Ramblin\u2019&#8221;, and a gritty take on his father\u2019s classic \u201cBad Luck City<em>.\u201d <\/em>The album blends Hill Country rhythms with rock, funk, and soulful guitar phrasing, capturing Garry\u2019s range as a songwriter, guitarist, and arranger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis album really is a testament to them\u2014what they taught me\u2014and my growth as a musician,\u201d Garry said. \u201cI hope it makes them proud.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standout tracks include the fierce \u201cYoung Country Boy\u201dand the reflective title track, \u201cIt\u2019s My Time Now,\u201d which he said touches on the \u201cthings I have been through over the years, and my coming to the front of the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About the instrumental burner \u201cHigh,\u201d Burnside also said \u201cI enjoy many different genres of music. New Orleans\u2019 sound is one of my favorites, and that is where the inspiration for this song came from. I like to have a good instrumental to open the show, and introduce the band, and this one is a great fit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album also includes a bonus track, \u201cGarry\u2019s Night Out<em>.<\/em>\u201d<em>\u201c<\/em>This song is just a description of a typical night out with me. Music, dancing, and fun. Known for his electrifying live performances and years spent spreading North Mississippi blues beyond the South, Kent offers a deeply personal collection that both honors and redefines the family legacy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis album is about where I come from\u2014my bloodline\u2014but also where I\u2019m headed,\u201d Kent said. \u201cI wanted to make something authentic that also pushes things forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also recorded at Royal Studios with Boo Mitchell, <em>Hill Country Blood<\/em> features eight original tracks, a searing revamp of \u201cCrawlin\u2019 King Snake,\u201d and Junior Kimbrough\u2019s classic \u201cYou Better Run.\u201d The album blends the driving Hill Country groove with flavors of Delta, Chicago, and funk blues, offering a raw, fresh take on modern blues altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group includes Kent on vocals and guitar, Garry Burnside on bass, <strong>Jake Best<\/strong> on drums, and harmonica player <strong>Damian \u201cYella P\u201d Pearson<\/strong> of <strong>Memphissippi Sounds<\/strong>.
