JACKSON, MS \u2013 The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) <\/strong>is reminding artists across the state that submissions for the inaugural Wild Turkey Stamp Art Contest <\/strong>are open until July 25, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This contest will determine the artwork featured on Mississippi\u2019s first ever Wild Turkey Stamp, which is set to launch in time for the 2026 turkey season. The Wild Turkey Stamp is the result of a multi-year legislative effort by hunters, conservation partners, and land managers and marks a major step forward for conservation in Mississippi. Proceeds from the Wild Turkey Stamp fund critical conservation efforts, including habitat management, restoration projects, and research initiatives that benefit wild turkey populations statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its inaugural kickoff campaign, the MDWFP would like to invite Mississippi-based artists, ages 15 and up, to submit original artwork to be featured as the first-ever state Wild Turkey Stamp. Submissions should depict the Eastern wild turkey (Meleagris silvestris gallopavo<\/em>) in a natural, Mississippi setting. The winning artist will receive a monetary gift, publicity and media recognition throughout MDWFP\u2019s social media channels, email blasts, and a spotlight in the Mississippi Outdoors <\/em>Magazine.
