On June 16, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff<\/strong>‘s Office responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 7 South<\/strong>. A responding Deputy located the described vehicle in the area of Highway 328<\/strong> and Highway 7 South, where it was swerving into the opposing lane of traffic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deputy conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. During the traffic stop, Deputies determined that the driver, Candy Booker<\/strong> (black female, 45 years old of Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>), showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booker was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong> without incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was later determined that Booker had two past DUI convictions in Mississippi within the last five years. Booker was charged with DUI 3rd and careless driving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booker was issued a $15,000 bond by the Lafayette County Justice Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
