The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks\u2019 (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) <\/strong>invites visitors to discover the hidden world of science in your backyard. Explore a garden of wonders, see the outdoors through a bee\u2019s eyes, walk through a digital garden, and discover nocturnal creatures at the Backyard Adventures Exhibit<\/strong>. This exhibit is open May 24, 2025 through January 4, 2026<\/strong> and \u00a0is included with museum admission or with Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation (MMNSF) <\/strong>membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Backyard Adventures, created by Scitech<\/strong> in Perth, Australia, and produced by Imagine<\/strong> in Atlanta, Georgia, emphasizes the importance of staying healthy and active by showing visitors how much fun awaits them outdoors and that there is more to your backyard than you imagine. The exhibition consists of interactive science displays such as Night Vision, Bee\u2019s Eye View, Giant Pumpkin Bonanza, Critter Calls, Giant Skipping Rope, Backyard Sports, Garden Golf, and Augmented Reality Garden Bed. \u201cBackyard Adventures\u00a0shows that you don\u2019t have to go far to explore something amazing. This exhibit invites you to see the outdoors through a new lens that is full of science, surprises, and everyday wonder,\u201d said Museum Director Angel Rohnke<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMNSF provides vital support to the Museum and its programs. \u201cThanks to the generosity of our donors and members, we\u2019re able to help bring exciting, interactive exhibits like Backyard Adventures to Mississippi. Tom Zaller, President and CEO of Imagine shared, \u201cImagine is proud to partner with Scitech to bring Backyard Adventures to MDWFP\u2019s MMNS. This exhibition is powerful in its ability to bring the joy and thrill of science home for visitors of all ages. We hope that Backyard Adventures inspires people to get curious, make discoveries, and explore the wonders that exist in their own backyards.\u201d In the exhibition, visitors will learn and experience that the backyard is full of science from the biological interactions between plants and insects, the zoology of nocturnal animals, the horticultural know how that goes into growing giant vegetables, the mathematical genius needed to lay pavers, and the feats of construction that can go on in the shed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
