The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks\u2019 (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS)<\/strong> invites you to expect the unexpected at\u00a0\u201cWorld Snake Day\u201d<\/strong> on\u00a0Friday, June 13, 2025<\/strong>, from\u00a010 am until 2 pm.\u00a0Whether you\u2019re a lifelong reptile enthusiast or just a little curious, this slithery celebration offers a safe and fascinating way to learn about one of nature\u2019s most misunderstood creatures. At this interactive event, visitors will\u00a0see and touch live snakes, meet the Museum\u2019s\u00a0herpetologists and educators, learn how to distinguish venomous from non-venomous snakes, and\u00a0explore how snakes benefit our environment. Guests can also participate in crafts and educational activities\u00a0designed to entertain and inform people of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSnakes might not be everyone\u2019s favorite animal, but they are truly remarkable,\u201d says Assistant Museum Director\u00a0Aaron Holbrook<\/strong>. \u201cWorld Snake Day is a great chance to explore the science and beauty of these fascinating reptiles in a safe, fun setting. We invite you to come learn something new – you might even surprise yourself!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World Snake Day is also\u00a0Scout friendly. Girl Scouts <\/strong>of Greater Mississippi\u00a0can earn the\u00a0\u201cMDWFP Museum of Natural Science Snake Day Patch.\u201d Boy Scouts<\/strong>\u00a0can complete multiple requirements for their\u00a0\u201cReptile and Amphibian Merit Badge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event admission is included with Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Membership or with regular museum admission: $9 for adults, $8 for seniors (60+), $7 for youth (ages 3\u201318), and free for children under age 3.
