Anubis Improv<\/a><\/strong> presents Half & Half<\/strong>, a compelling cross-disciplinary comedy show on Friday, May 23rd at 7pm at The Powerhouse<\/strong>. The show, presented in collaboration with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council<\/strong>, takes four two-character scripts and splits them in half, giving each character\u2019s sides to a different actor to memorize. On the night of the show, each actor is paired with an improviser who has no knowledge of the scenes. The actors must say their lines as written no matter how the improviser responds. The audience will see both halves of each of the scripts throughout the show, and often enjoys trying to match them up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis show is a win-win in terms of comedic effect,\u201d says the show\u2019s producer and Anubis Improv founder David Hamilton. \u201cEither the improviser responds in a way that makes sense to the scene, which is miraculous and compelling, or they respond in a way that makes no sense, which is hilarious!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Writers for the show include well-respected Oxonian Bud Fanton<\/strong>, Ole Miss PhD student Kapani Kirkland<\/strong>, New Orleans comedy veteran Nick Napolitano<\/strong>, and award-winning playwright Chuck Smith<\/strong>. Actors include Theatre Oxford<\/strong> veterans Paula Stack<\/strong> and Jules Mikell<\/strong>, University of Mississippi Associate Professor of Theatre Arts and Senior Fellow, South Residential College Rory Ledbetter<\/strong>, and Anubis Improv graduate and former Half & Half writer Dylan Kerr<\/strong>. The improvisers are all Anubis Improv graduates and Oxford comedy veterans and include Hannah Allen, Ruth Hogue, Connor King<\/strong>, and Alyssa Lee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
