Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department<\/strong>\u2019s deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 224<\/strong> in Yalobusha County, Mississippi<\/strong>, just before lunch on Thursday, May 8, 2025, for a disturbance with weapons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When deputies arrived an armed male came outside pointing a handgun at law enforcement saying they would have to kill him, before returning inside the home. Water Valley Police Department<\/strong> responded and a perimeter was quickly set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lafayette County<\/strong> and Oxford SWAT<\/strong> teams made scene and were able to take Zachary Beard<\/strong> into custody without incident after hours long standoff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheriff Gooch<\/strong> would like to extend his gratitude to Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Oxford Police Department<\/strong>, Water Valley Police Department, and Yalobusha EMS<\/strong> for their response with this incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
