{"id":148653,"date":"2025-04-23T19:12:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-24T00:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=148653"},"modified":"2025-04-23T17:15:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T22:15:57","slug":"oxford-intermediate-school-music-program-flourishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/oxford-intermediate-school-music-program-flourishes\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford Intermediate School Music Program Flourishes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In just her second year at <strong>Oxford Intermediate School (OIS)<\/strong>, music teacher <strong>Briana Brown<\/strong> has made a profound impact \u2013 fostering a creative and inspiring learning environment where the music and choir program flourishes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a decade of teaching experience, Mrs. Brown has been instrumental in the OIS music program\u2019s growth. This year, she received generous grants from the <strong>Peter R. Marsh Foundation<\/strong> and the <strong>Oxford School District Foundation<\/strong>, which helped fund a new piano lab set for next school year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMrs. Brown has done a great job recruiting our incoming 6th graders and will be teaching piano at OIS for the first time next year. Her choir roster will be well over 50 students, the most since I\u2019ve been at OIS,\u201d OIS Principal <strong>Chase Goolsby<\/strong> said. \u201cUnder her leadership, the music program has grown in both size and student engagement. She\u2019s built a space where kids feel proud to express themselves, and I hope they leave her class with confidence, teamwork skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are some academic skills students will have when they leave my classes, but most importantly I hope they learn empathy, kindness, perseverance, self-expression, and generosity of spirit.
