Author and internet sensation Landon Byrant<\/strong> brings his humorous observations on Southern life to the season finale of the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour<\/strong> this Thursday, April 24 at 6 pm<\/strong> at the Powerhouse Arts Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admission is free and the public is invited. Doors will open at 5:30 pm for refreshments; showtime is 6 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special Happy Hour will be available at 5 pm for Thacker members featuring signature cocktails and snacks by Party Waitin to Happen. Thacker memberships ($120 for a year) will be available at the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other guests for the show will include country rockers, Will Griffith & The Great Dying<\/strong> and gospel\/R&B performer, Damein Wash<\/strong>. The show is hosted by Jim Dees with Paul Tate & The Yalobushwhacker Big Band<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Powerhouse Arts Center is located at 413 South 14th St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Landon Bryant, of Laurel, Mississippi<\/strong>, has attracted nearly 500,000 followers worldwide on Instagram (@LandonTalks)<\/a> and YouTube<\/a>. His laid-back pronouncements on Southern culture are now collected in a book, Bless Your Heart \u2013 A Field Guide to All Things Southern<\/strong><\/em> (Running Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the best mayonnaise to favorite grandparent names to the meaning of \u201cfixing to,\u201d Byrant has struck a chord with Southerners and non-Southerners alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Griffith<\/strong>, known musically as The Great Dying<\/strong>, is a Mississippi Delta born singer-songwriter residing in Oxford. The Great Dying blends dark country with punk and alternative rock. The band\u2019s latest album is A Constant Goodbye<\/strong><\/em> (Dial Back Sound).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Great Dying will perform at the Double Decker Arts and Music Festival <\/strong>in Oxford on Friday, April 25 at 5 pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oxford native Damein Wash<\/strong> has spent a lifetime pursuing music across a diverse world of genres beginning with the Southern gospel tradition. An avid performer, Wash has taken his music to cities across the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his Thacker appearance, Wash will appear with a full band and back-up singers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour can be heard in Oxford every Thursday at 6 pm on WUMS, (92.1 FM)<\/strong>, and every Saturday night at 7 pm on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (90.3 FM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next live Thacker event will be on Thursday, May 15<\/strong>. The show will hold a \u201cThacker-Oke Fundraiser\u201d at 8 pm at Proud Larry\u2019s<\/strong>. Tickets are $20 and give attendees a chance to sing karaoke live onstage with the show\u2019s house band, the Yalobushwhwackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceeds go towards the show\u2019s Fall 2025 season which begins on Thursday, September 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
