Fiddlin\u2019 Rooster Farm\u2019s music series continues

\"\"Water Valley, MS\u00a0 \u2013 On Thursday, April 26th<\/strong><\/span>, Water Valley\u2019s new acoustic music venue Fiddler\u2019s Loft<\/strong><\/span><\/span> presents its third show of the season. While last week\u2019s show featured performances by local favorites Love Cannon and Water Valley\u2019s own Jake Fussell, this week\u2019s show pulls in songwriters Jim Ellis<\/strong><\/span> from Senatobia and Alanna Mosley<\/strong><\/span> from Carrollton. \u00a0Jim Ellis is well known to fans of Mississippi Delta music as a solid songwriter and soulful singer. His heartfelt country-soul and country-blues based songs recall the finest songwriters of a bygone era such as Dan Penn, Otis Redding, Tom T. Hall, and Leon Russell. Alanna Mosely on the other hand, plays more contemporary songs with echoes of the rock, folk, blues, country that she grew up on– all delivered with her strong sweet voice. \u00a0Her reputation as a songwriter and performer recently scored her a slot at Nashville\u2019s prestigious Bluebird Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Fiddler\u2019s Loft format is unusual in that it features established acts (two each week) as well as short guest spots for talented amateurs. Last week\u2019s show included a great set from Taylor Grocery owner Lynn Hewlitt<\/strong>, who while singing and entertaining the crowd jokingly described his performance by saying \u201cThese other people playing tonight are professionals. You want to talk about my music career\u2026.you\u2019re looking at it right here.”<\/p>\n

Shows run from 7:00 to 9:30 PM, giving audiences the chance to take in an entire show and still get home early. A minimal cover charge supports the musicians, and good coffee, soft drinks and fine desserts are available for purchase. This Thursday evening concert series takes place in the spruced up loft of the barn at Fiddlin\u2019 Rooster Farm<\/strong>, giving audiences an up close, comfortable atmosphere in which to appreciate fine songwriters and performers and relax with friends over coffee and dessert. The crowds so far have demonstrated great support for the idea of a listening room like this in Water Valley.<\/p>\n
