{"id":148275,"date":"2025-04-07T17:02:57","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T22:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=148275"},"modified":"2025-04-07T17:02:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T22:02:59","slug":"theatre-oxfords-i-love-you-youre-perfect-now-change-tells-the-eternal-story-of-venus-and-mars-in-todays-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/theatre-oxfords-i-love-you-youre-perfect-now-change-tells-the-eternal-story-of-venus-and-mars-in-todays-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Theatre Oxford\u2019s &#8220;I Love You, You\u2019re Perfect, Now Change&#8221; Tells the Eternal Story of Venus and Mars in Today\u2019s World"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Venus and Mars, woman and man, a story as timely today as it was when Adam and Eve first eyed that apple in the garden of Eden, and it gets full treatment in <strong>Theatre Oxford<\/strong>\u2019s latest production, <em><strong>I Love You, You\u2019re Perfect, Now Change<\/strong><\/em>, at the <strong>Powerhouse April 11 and 12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShouldn\u2019t I be less in love with you?\u201d asks an aging husband in one of the segments of the musical, Theatre Oxford\u2019s first, by <strong>Joe DiPietro<\/strong> with music by <strong>Jimmy Roberts<\/strong>. Despite all the fights and all the years, \u201cNo,\u201d he proclaims, answering his own question while his oblivious wife reads a newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From young lovers on their first date to widowed oldsters who meet at a funeral, <em>I Love You, You\u2019re Perfect, Now Chang<\/em>e is a rollicking, fun-filled exploration of the relationship of man and woman at every conceivable angle, all the highs and lows and a lot of the in-betweens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directed by stage veteran <strong>Rene Pulliam<\/strong> with music direction by <strong>Justin Wadkins<\/strong>, the musical will be shown <strong>Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> and again <strong>Saturday, April 12<\/strong>,<strong> at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m<\/strong>. Performers include <strong>Bill Taylor<\/strong>, <strong>Justin Wadkins<\/strong>, <strong>Briana Fae Brown<\/strong>, <strong>Ellie Black<\/strong>, <strong>Tori Hutchinson<\/strong>, and a host of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is Theatre Oxford\u2019s final production for the 2024\u20132025 season, and it is presented by arrangement with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.concordtheatricals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Concord Theatricals<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets for the performances will be $15 for Theatre Oxford members, $18 for students and seniors and $25 for non-members. Tickets will be sold online, closing two hours prior to show time. Tickets will be sold at the door if available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All productions will take place at the Powerhouse located at 413 S. 14th Street in Oxford.
