Submissions for coveted award are due by April 1, 2025<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The selection committee for the Thomas Frist Student Service Award<\/strong> is accepting nominations for University of Mississippi <\/strong>faculty and staff members who go “the extra mile” to provide exceptional assistance to students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ole Miss<\/strong> students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff can nominate candidates for the annual awards online through April 1, 2025. To access the nomination form,\u00a0click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any full-time faculty or staff member, except previous winners, is eligible for the award, which includes a $1,000 prize and a plaque. Past nominations also may be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a tremendous honor to have been awarded the Frist Award and to know that there were students for whom my service made a difference,” said Tracy Case Koslowski<\/strong>, associate director of the\u00a0Intensive English Program<\/a>\u00a0and the staff winner of the 2024 Frist Award. “Honestly, my nomination was a direct result of principles taught to me by my community: being kind, courteous, considerate and helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is incredibly impactful for students and others to nominate people for service rewards because it validates and strengthens those values we cherish.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nomination should differentiate between obligation and service by citing specific examples in which the person being nominated has gone beyond the call of duty to help a student or students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations should not focus on classroom teaching or tutoring efforts. The Elsie M. Hood Outstanding Teacher Award, which has a separate nomination process, recognizes excellence in that area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recipients will be honored May 10 at the university’s Commencement convocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Frist Student Service Awards were established with a $50,000 gift from the late Dr. Thomas F. Frist<\/strong>, of Nashville<\/strong>, a 1930 UM graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
