On March 4, 2025, Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff<\/strong>\u2019s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 6 West<\/strong> due to the vehicle traveling at night without their headlights on. Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the search, deputies located a handgun in the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were both previously convicted felons. As a result, Tyler Ownes<\/strong>, 23 years old of Oxford, Mississippi<\/strong>, and Tarian Draper<\/strong>, 20 years old of Holly Springs<\/strong>, MS, were both arrested for Felon in possession of a firearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owens and Draper were booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center.<\/strong> A MDOC hold was placed on both individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Draper and Owens both appeared before a Justice Court Judge on Thursday, March 6, 2025 and each issued a $15,000.00 bond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
