Mississippi, renowned&nbsp;as the <strong>\u201cBirthplace of America\u2019s Music,\u201d<\/strong> has produced legendary musicians whose influence spans genres like blues, gospel, jazz, and country. Pioneers like <strong>Charley Patton<\/strong>, <strong>Son House<\/strong>, <strong>Robert Johnson<\/strong>, and <strong>Jimmie Rodgers<\/strong> paved the way for the state\u2019s lasting legacy in shaping modern music, putting Mississippi on the map as a birthplace of influential sound.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March 2024, House Bill 365, authored by <strong>State Representative Missy McGee<\/strong>, was signed into law, officially designating March as Mississippi Musicians Month. This month-long celebration invites all Mississippians to honor the musicians who have called this state home and to reflect on the enduring impact of their contributions to the music world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the month-long festivities, Visit Mississippi invites tourism partners across the state to submit their music-related events for promotion on the official Visit Mississippi website. Events can be submitted through <a href=\"https:\/\/visitmississippi.org\/event-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an online form here<\/a>, where they will appear on the Visit Mississippi Events Calendar and be featured on the rotating carousel on <a href=\"https:\/\/visitmississippi.org\/go\/music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Birthplace of America\u2019s Music landing page<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to submitting events, Visit Mississippi encourages partners to highlight their local musicians, stories, and music events on social media and use the hashtag #MSMusiciansMonth for a chance to be featured on Visit Mississippi\u2019s platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMississippi\u2019s musical legacy is unparalleled, and Mississippi Musicians Month provides an opportunity for all of us to come together to celebrate the artists who have defined and continue to shape the world&#8217;s musical landscape,\u201d said <strong>Rochelle Hicks<\/strong>, <strong>Director of Tourism at Visit Mississippi<\/strong>. \u201cFrom the Delta blues to the soul of gospel and the rhythm of country, Mississippi is a true musical treasure. We encourage our tourism partners, communities, and music fans to join us in this celebration by submitting events to our website and using the hashtag #MSMusiciansMonth to amplify Mississippi\u2019s musical legacy.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This celebration is a part of Visit Mississippi\u2019s yearlong campaign, \u201cBirthplace of America\u2019s Music,\u201d which began with a music-themed float in the <strong>Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade<\/strong>, celebrating milestone birthdays for musical icons <strong>Elvis Presley<\/strong> and <strong>B.B. King<\/strong>. In February, Visit Mississippi recognized 2025 GRAMMY Award nominees <strong>Cedric Burnside<\/strong> and <strong>Steve Azar<\/strong>, two artists who continue to carry the Mississippi music tradition forward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later this month, Visit Mississippi will release a special video in partnership with <strong>Playing for Change<\/strong>, showcasing the global impact of Mississippi musicians. Proceeds from the video will benefit Mississippi musical foundations, including the <strong>Follow Your Heart Arts Program<\/strong> founded by <strong>Charlie Worsham<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mississippi Musicians Month is a vibrant tribute to the incredible talent that has originated from the state and continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
