To celebrate\u00a0Mardi Gras<\/strong>\u00a0in March, GRAMMY Museum\u00ae\u00a0Mississippi <\/a><\/strong>will host a\u00a0free Family Day event<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0Saturday, March 15, from 10 am to 2 pm.<\/strong> The event will feature free admission to GRAMMY Museum Mississippi \u2014 provided by Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area<\/strong> and\u00a0King\u2019s Daughters and Sons Circle<\/strong>\u00a0Number 2<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014an education program with two-time GRAMMY\u00ae winner\u00a0Terrance Simien<\/strong>, DIY Mardi Gras mask-making provided by Delta Arts Alliance<\/strong>, games, and more. Food vendors will also be onsite with snacks and beverages for purchase. This program is also sponsored by\u00a0Mississippi Arts Commission.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are so thrilled to celebrate Mardi Gras season with a special free Family Day event at the Mississippi Museum,\u201d said Emily Havens<\/strong>, Executive Director of GRAMMY Museum Mississippi. \u201cWe welcome everyone in Cleveland and the surrounding areas to come out for what will be a fantastic day of music, art and games. We\u2019re excited to have GRAMMY winner zydeco musician Terrance Simien here to provide a special Creole workshop experience for kids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free Mardi Gras Family Day event will feature a Creole 4 Kidz! Program featuring Simien, DIY Mardi Gras mask-making, bead toss games, Krewe Kids parade, and food vendors onsite. Guests will also be able to tour the exhibits at GRAMMY Museum Mississippi for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program support is provided by Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and free admission to GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is funded by King\u2019s Daughters and Sons Circle Number 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>For over 40 years, two-time GRAMMY Award-winning, eighth generation Louisiana Creole, Terrance Simien has been shattering the myths and often misinformation about what his traditional Zydeco roots music is\u2014and is not. It\u2019s most certainly Black American roots music and it\u2019s music born of the African American\/Black and mixed race French-speaking Creoles of South Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
