Hometown:<\/strong><\/span> Batesville<\/span><\/p>\n

What brought you to the area?<\/strong><\/span> I came to Oxford for college. I ran track and got a biology degree.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have any other jobs?<\/strong><\/span> Yes, many. I work full time for Window King and I clean chimneys in the Fall. Plus catering and recording music.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"CharlieFarmer\"<\/a> How did you get started in agriculture?<\/strong><\/span> I\u2019ve always loved to garden since I grew jalape\u00f1os successfully when I was twelve.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is a typical work day like?<\/strong><\/span> Wake up when it\u2019s still dark, feed all the chickens and animals, go to work all day, come home and work in the garden till dark.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you do on a rainy day?<\/strong><\/span> Put on a raincoat.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the best thing about working on your farm?<\/strong><\/span> My kids are always around!<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you most proud of this year so far?<\/strong><\/span> Well, I guess I\u2019m proud that I got a couple of good crops of carrots this year. Previous attempts were hardly successful.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you most looking forward to this season?<\/strong><\/span> I\u2019m most looking forward to the harvest of melons!<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite vegetable?<\/strong><\/span> Napa cabbage.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite insect?<\/strong><\/span> Honeybee\u2014awesome pollinator & honey provider.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite music to listen to while digging in the ground?<\/strong><\/span> The beats in my head with the \u201cWeird Al\u201d-ish parodies, I can\u2019t stop!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ever dug up (or found) anything strange \/ interesting \/ valuable?<\/strong><\/span> I got really creeped out by this old doll head I found two feet underground.<\/span><\/p>\n

Name an uncommon vegetable that people should try:<\/strong><\/span> Bittermelon\u2014It\u2019s an acquired taste.<\/span><\/p>\n

Is there anything you\u2019d like to see change about the way food is consumed in our community?<\/strong><\/span> Definitely. I would love for everyone to be more aware of what goes into sustainable agriculture and why it is important.<\/span><\/p>\n

Name one piece of equipment you could not live without:<\/strong><\/span> Hoe<\/span><\/p>\n
