{"id":146522,"date":"2025-01-21T15:52:40","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T21:52:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=146522"},"modified":"2025-01-22T18:33:59","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T00:33:59","slug":"the-claylist-announces-plans-for-farewell-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/the-claylist-announces-plans-for-farewell-season\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Claylist\u201d Announces Plans for Farewell Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>The farewell season of WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio\u2019s hit show&nbsp;will begin streaming across airwaves on Wednesday, January 22<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio<\/strong>\u2019s smash hit radio series \u201c<strong>The Claylist<\/strong>\u201d is set to air the first episode of its sixth and final season<strong> <\/strong>on <strong>Wednesday, January 22 at 1 pm<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The farewell season has been allotted for 14 episodes<strong> <\/strong>that will officially wrap up on Wednesday, April 30, meaning the series will have an impressive 82-episode run<strong> <\/strong>over its three years. The season\u2019s theme and tagline will be \u201c<strong>You\u2019re Right Where You\u2019re Supposed To Be<\/strong>.\u201d Each episode will honor the people, city, and school that helped make \u201cThe Claylist\u201d a reality, as well as offer words of wisdom from a graduating college senior \u2014 namely by the show\u2019s host, <strong>Clay Hale<\/strong>, a UM senior integrated marketing communications major from <strong>Water Valley, Mississippi<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few episode titles and themes include the reflective \u201cMy Life is a Country Song,\u201d the final installment in a fan-favorite running theme \u201cThe Slaylist 4\u201d and \u201cYou\u2019re Right Where You\u2019re Supposed To Be,\u201d the series finale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to a full line of around eight to ten songs aligning with the week\u2019s theme, there are three segments for listeners to enjoy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201c<strong>underCLAYed<\/strong>\u201d segment calls back to his first radio series and focuses on bringing awareness to the lack of female airplay on country radio; one song will be deemed the \u201cunderCLAYed\u201d song of each week. Hale will also dedicate one song each week to someone that has supported \u201cThe Claylist\u201d over its span in a segment called \u201c<strong>Support Sponsor<\/strong>.\u201d Each episode will kick off with a few new songs in a running segment called \u201c<strong>What\u2019s Hot?<\/strong>\u201d in which new music from the week will be spotlighted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since \u201cThe Claylist\u2019s\u201d debut on August 24, 2022, it has proven to be a hit on the University of Mississippi campus and in the Oxford community. The show\u2019s creator and host, Hale, has been a finalist for <strong>Favorite DJ\/Emcee in Oxford <\/strong>in <strong><em>The Local Voice<\/em>\u2019s Townies <\/strong>for the last two years, coming in at <strong>No. 2 <\/strong>in 2025 and <strong>No. 3 <\/strong>in 2024. Hale was <strong>the only student DJ <\/strong>to be listed in the final listing for either year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis series has granted me the opportunity to be myself with the people on the Ole Miss campus and in the Oxford community. Rebel Radio was the first organization that I became a part of on campus, and I am just so honored and blessed for all of my years with the station,\u201d Hale said. \u201cMy hope is that this show becomes a part of my legacy at Ole Miss, and when it does finally end, I hope that this show is remembered for its honesty, conversational tone, and ability to connect with listeners.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fellow <strong>WUMS 92.1 Rebel Radio student DJ Sophie Krumhansl<\/strong>, the host of \u201c<strong>Kickin\u2019 It With Krummy<\/strong>,\u201d has followed the show since she became a student at the university.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think \u2018The Claylist\u2019 is an inspiration because it shows how meaningful music can be and how much we can learn from it,\u201d Krumhansl said. \u201cPeople should tune into the show because it showcases lots of great country artists with great songs. It also includes stories from DJ Clay, who really does a good job of pointing out the deeper meanings of songs and adds a personal touch to them.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To tune into \u201cThe Claylist\u201d each week, University, Oxford, and Water Valley locals can <strong>turn their radio dial to 92.1<\/strong>. Listeners can also download the <strong>RadioFX <\/strong>app and hear the show wherever they go.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though reruns of each show are not available to the public, playlists for every episode are available to save on Spotify.
