Three Oxford High School<\/strong> seniors, Aiden Turnage<\/strong>, Kamar Houston<\/strong>, and Walker Houston<\/strong>, recently embarked on the trip of a lifetime. NFL football player and Oxford High School alumnus DK Metcalf<\/strong>, along with Delta Air Lines<\/strong>, generously provided Aiden, Kamar, and Walker with an incredible opportunity to participate in a nearly all-expenses-paid journey to the Pacific Northwest to learn about real-world opportunities in the engineering field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Seniors who had completed Oxford High School\u2019s CTE engineering pathway, or who were currently enrolled in Engineering III & IV were invited to apply for this opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon being selected, Aiden, Kamar, and Walker traveled to Seattle, Washington<\/strong> with a parent or guardian at different times during the fall semester. During their visit, the students had the opportunity to participate in an engaging behind-the-scenes experience of the Seattle airport. They toured the Airport Coordination Center (ACC)<\/strong>, where they observed how incoming and outgoing flights are monitored and managed for departure and landing. The students also participated in a hangar tour, where they learned about the maintenance of various types of aircrafts, met with members of the TechOps department, and had the chance to look at an aircraft engine, cockpit, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these activities, the students enjoyed a guided tour of the Museum of Flight<\/strong>, visited the Seattle Space Needle<\/strong>, and even attended a Seattle Seahawks<\/strong> football game.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
