On November 1, 2024, the Oxford Police Department<\/strong> arrested Timothy Hervey<\/strong>, (20 of Oxford, Mississippi), in connection with a drive by shooting incident that occurred on the 500 block of Hurricane Lane<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 3:48 pm, officers responded to a report of gunfire at a residence on Hurricane Lane. Investigators on scene found multiple bullet holes in a vehicle parked in the driveway and recovered shell casings and other evidence indicative of gunfire. No one was injured in the shooting. Hervey was identified as the suspect shortly after.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the investigation, detectives learned that Hervey was also a suspect in a recent burglary in the county. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oxford Police Department obtained a search warrant for Hervey\u2019s residence and executed the warrant leading to Hervey\u2019s arrest. During the search, investigators located a handgun matching the firearm that was reported stolen. The handgun and ammunition recovered from the scene are consistent with the type used in the shooting on Hurricane Lane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timothy Hervey is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong> on charges of drive by shooting and possession of a stolen firearm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
