We&#8217;re deeply grateful for our history of partnership with Toyota and thrilled about this new initiative.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through observation and coaching, the center&#8217;s research-based classroom methods aim to drive economic advancement in the state by strengthening the quality of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education at the grade school level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Mississippi&#8217;s economy is growing,&#8221; Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann said. &#8220;To meet its demands, we need our students\u2014particularly in STEM fields\u2014to be ready to hit the ground running when they graduate at any level. This new partnership is a great example of how industry and education can work together to accomplish this goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff members from the center will provide STEM teacher support at <strong>Shannon Middle School<\/strong>, <strong>Plantersville Middle School<\/strong> and <strong>Verona Elementary School<\/strong> in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/3\/2da545054b5e84c4866055bc046903e3fd80cc0ec5b0b43c4fa363a8ba4804f3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lee County<\/a>\u00a0for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 academic years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Coke Magee<\/strong>, superintendent of the district, said the center&#8217;s professional development plans include teaching hands-on programming through its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/4\/14b017eac6c5a2368577accab65206363eabcb5ccc11792349f8b7309c341472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Middle Math Institutes<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and sharing ways to integrate math and science. There, the center will also share resources to support math instruction for students who are learning English and students with special needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We guide teachers in analyzing how their students approach problems and then use their students&#8217; ideas and ways of thinking to take them to the next step in their learning,&#8221; said <strong>Alice Steimle<\/strong>, the center&#8217;s director. &#8220;As teachers begin to explore how their students think, they gain a deeper understanding of the content and ways to meet their students&#8217; individual learning needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are incredibly honored to be a part of such a significant initiative which highlights the importance of collaboration between industry and education\u2014a synergy that is essential to improving communities and preparing students for the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toyota has been an active partner with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/6\/09c9f7c3b21c0005c234ecc8143c6727a249f774ae3e738642271272db718017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Ole Miss<\/strong><\/a>, hosting classes for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/7\/58e22e0477d8c58e803afc7bc73cf5502be78bb9ca5377f961f87dc01435b5b9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Center for Manufacturing Excellence<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/8\/f9957982f043e5eb31e5f06b9f7ff2b1ab33cbe2995e59705104ca2ed93cca34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Blue Springs<\/strong> facility<\/a>\u00a0and actively recruiting students from the CME and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usw2.nyl.as\/t1\/306\/c96iflths2jpvnnf3gfxvqxkp\/9\/9df84e908ff787a2501712e61992beb9d807201a26bb7ad7e2e0e2c2ed9af973\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>School of Engineering<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides supporting teachers, the expanded partnership allows CMSE to provide administrative support for both school districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As a leader in the community, Toyota is looking forward to working with Lee County and Pontotoc city schools through the Driving Possibilities model for STEM Education,&#8221;
