Twenty animals were rescued and ten were found deceased<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, August 4, 2024,\u00a0 deputies of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office<\/strong> responded to\u00a0a citizen of possible animal cruelty to an area on County Road\u00a0418<\/strong>. Upon arrival at the residence, deputies saw several dogs that appeared very malnourished and discovered several dogs that were deceased still attached to their collars and chains.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With no one home at the time deputies arrived, Investigators\u00a0were called out. A search warrant was applied for and\u00a0granted. During a search of the property, twenty animals were rescued and taken to a local veterinarian office for evaluation\u00a0and care, while ten animals were found deceased.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, 47-year-old Terry E. Pegues<\/strong> was arrested for ten counts of animal cruelty. Mr. Pegues was\u00a0given a $75,000.00 bond by the Lafayette County Justice\u00a0Court<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
