The old fire truck at Avent Park<\/strong> entertained many a local kid. We drove the big rig, we rode shotgun, and we manned the top turret on the way to countless fires. By the time the city decided it was becoming dangerous, the old truck was nearly shapeless.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ernest Oliver<\/strong>\u2019s picture of his son\u2019s cowboy-themed birthday party at the park is a Norman Rockwell<\/strong>-worthy image of Oxford<\/strong>, Avent Park<\/strong>, and the old fire truck. Among the partiers that day, Jonathan Oliver<\/strong> is bottom right, Drew Fair<\/strong> is under the truck looking up, and Allison Fair<\/strong> is standing at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
