Consider keeping your pets indoors: because of their sensitive hearing, fireworks can be terrifying for pets. Keeping cats and dogs indoors during the celebrations will minimize their exposure to loud noises and flashes of light. You can also create a calm space by providing a quiet and safe area for your pet. Include familiar bedding, toys, and perhaps soothing music or white noise to help them feel secure. Don’t forget to ensure your pet’s microchip and ID tag information is up-to-date. In case they get scared and escape, proper identification will increase the chances of a safe return home.

We hope you have a safe and fun Fourth of July this year, and we hope to see you out enjoying the holiday in Oxford and the surrounding areas.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

8428,19
29443,25468,34,26444,29445,10608,8804,29446,5,11127,20521,4,1135,25920,29448,9917,25914,21604,25912,9308,1426,67,3,2407,15969,26993,2396
post-140863","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-event","category-local-news","tag-4th-of-july-childrens-parade","tag-american-legion","tag-big-bad-breakfast","tag-bullseye-95-5","tag-disabled-american-veterans","tag-fireworks","tag-independence-day","tag-marine-corps-league","tag-mississippi","tag-moes-original-bbq","tag-ne-sparc","tag-oxford","tag-oxford-high-school","tag-performance-marine","tag-pet-safety","tag-pizza","tag-poker-run","tag-rafters-on-the-water","tag-red-white-and-boom","tag-saint-leo","tag-sardis-lake","tag-the-library","tag-the-local-voice","tag-the-square","tag-uno-mas","tag-vfw","tag-yoknapatawpha-arts-council
https://i0.wp.com/www.thelocalvoice.net/oxford/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/patriotic-dog-scaled.jpeg?fit=2560%2C1463&ssl=1
["GET
