Nothing To Lose<\/em><\/strong>, a memoir by Mississippi native J.L. Holloway<\/strong>, was recognized by the Independent Publishers Association as part of its annual IPPY Awards<\/strong>. Nothing to Lose (Nautilus Publishing<\/a><\/strong>) was awarded the gold medal for best nonfiction book in the South region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The silver medal was awarded to Brooke Champagne for NOLA Face: A Latina\u2019s Life in the Big Easy<\/em> (The University of Georgia Press). The bronze went to George Singleton for Asides<\/em> (Eastover Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IPPY Awards receive more than 5,000 entries each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amy Shamroe<\/strong>, IPPY Awards Director, said, \u201cThe competition, which began in 1996, garners thousands of entries from around the world. For a book to be awarded a medal reflects extraordinary excellence\u2014and execution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to learning of the award, J.L. Holloway said, \u201cIt\u2019s such an honor to be recognized by the Independent Publishers Association\u2014and a privilege to be included in the company of such fabulous writers.\u201d He added, \u201cI want to thank my wife Diane, my publisher Neil White<\/strong>, and the entire team at Nautilus Publishing. None of this would have been possible without an incredible collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to publication, Nothing to Lose<\/em> received extraordinary praise from Archie Manning<\/strong>, University of Mississippi Chancellor Emeritus Robert Khayat<\/strong>, Governor Haley Barbour<\/strong>, Mississippi College President Blake Thompson<\/strong>, Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Overby<\/strong>, and bestselling author David Magee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
