The Oxford Police Department<\/strong> will launch its new program, Youth Night<\/strong>, at the Oxford Police Department Training Building<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Occurring from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, the department is inviting all youth ages 13 and up. This is a free event for the young community to learn about Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeff McCutchen<\/strong>, Chief of Police, said, “We are passionate about serving and connecting our community as best as we can, and Oxford’s youth are our future, we want them to feel they have a place and our department is here to serve them, too.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event is hosted by OPD Explorer Post 50 and is the first of hopefully many more to come. Covering a range of topics, anything from discussions of the day-to-day life of a patrol officer, gear utilized, and the K-9 unit, among others, a wide variety is being taught.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mackenzie Rogers<\/strong>, the patrol officer heading this event, said, “This class is an amazing opportunity to foster relationships with the younger part of our community. We want them to see what we do and see if it’s possibly a career they could be interested in down the line.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
