{"id":137463,"date":"2024-03-05T09:13:12","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T15:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/?p=137463"},"modified":"2024-03-05T09:13:14","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T15:13:14","slug":"oxford-man-arrested-on-jackson-avenue-east-for-possession-of-a-controlled-substance-with-intent-to-distribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelocalvoice.net\/oxford\/oxford-man-arrested-on-jackson-avenue-east-for-possession-of-a-controlled-substance-with-intent-to-distribute\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford Man Arrested on Jackson Avenue East for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On February 26, 2024, a <strong>Lafayette County Sheriff&#8217;s Deputy<\/strong> was dispatched to a residence on <strong>County Road 171<\/strong> to take a report of a disturbance. once the Deputy arrived, it was reported that <strong>Joey Wells<\/strong> pulled a gun on the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 27, 2024, Lafayette County Investigators followed up on the report and found Joey Wells was a convicted felon. Joey was then charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and a warrant was issue for his arrest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 28, 2024, investigators were notified by the <strong>Oxford Police Department<\/strong> of a residence on <strong>Jackson Avenue East<\/strong> where Joey Wells was living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputies conducted surveillance on the residence and saw Joey Wells leaving the residence in his vehicle. Deputies made a traffic stop on the vehicle in front of <strong>James Food Center<\/strong>. Joey was then arrested and transported to the <strong>Lafayette County Detention Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the residence on Jackson Avenue East. The search warrant was executed by the Lafayette County Sheriff&#8217;s Office and <strong>Lafayette County Metro Narcotics<\/strong>. During the search, an investigator located a firearm alon with a bag of white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metro Narcotics later charged Joey with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. A Lafayette County Justice Court Judge issued Joey a $50,000.00 bond but revoked it due to Joey already being out on another felony bond.
